Paula
K. Jones, Director
Paula Jones is the Director
of San Francisco Food Systems and currently a doctoral student at the University of California, Santa Cruz. After her education at
University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and graduate work at San
Francisco State University, she worked in a variety of positions
both in the corporate and non-profit arena.
Paula has extensive experience in business
administration, marketing, community organizing, project management
and development. She has been involved in Urban Agriculture in San
Francisco in a variety of capacities.
Immediately prior to coming to San
Francisco Food Systems, she was the Director of Urban Agriculture
at the San Francisco League of Urban Gardeners focusing on food
security through the following projects: urban farming in public
housing developments, farmers markets in low-income communities,
food pantries, and food security assessments.
She
was raised on a small family farm in rural Illinois.
Cheryl Magid, Community Liaison
Cheryl Magid is a Registered Dietitian, and was previously the Health and Nutrition
Manager at the Children's Council of San Francisco where she was
responsible for the oversight of the Child Care Food Program for 300 family
day care providers. Her previous experience is working in senior nutrition
where worked for the Kosher Nutrition Project and Meals on Wheels. Cheryl
has community-based project experience in the areas of nutrition education,
food systems, and health and wellness and she worked in several formal and
informal community nutrition and health collaborations in San Francisco.
